January is bleak. However jazz never stops. Bleak? No problemo. And just a train ride away from Blighty the Brussels Jazz Festival is back. 

Avoiding the risk to waffle on too much, and yes the marlbank touring snack of choice on occasion may factor in a tasty gaufre it is a pretty good line-up with Brits taking part including Yazz Ahmed, Theon Cross, Maisha and Kit Downes/Tom Challenger, plus the ex-Metheny drummer Mexican Antonio Sánchez, the hugely belovèd Ethiojazz master Mulatu Astatké, top, and Nina Simone’s daughter Lisa Simone all scheduled. 10-19 January.
