Out on the lash leave the key on the latch... pick of the jazz club action

GIG OF THE WEEK

Karim Saber Quintet Eastside, London tomorrow
Transmission we reckon is among the very best new UK jazz albums this year. A remarkable first surfacing from a guitarist who this time last year was a complete unknown to all among the great unwashed jazzerati. Think Ant Law meets Wolfgang Muthspiel as a jumping off point. Deserves a Parly or two. Neglecting such a bright talent would indeed be parlous. Be on the right side of history Leytonstone folk by catching a bit of this getting down.

Enemies of Turin Pizza Express Jazz Club, London tomorrow
Drummer Jack Yardley's improv loving band features Partikel face Max Luthert on bass.

Jazz Emu Pleasance Courtyard, Edinburgh, All week from Tues and runs on
A comedy show educatiing Archie, what larks - or rather us - is a dab hand at funky tongue-in-cheek disco/jazz/rock fusion mayhem. He's fast becoming a word of mouth Chortle and even jazz approved phenom. Remember to remove your most preferred digit from fundamental root positions jazzers, otherwise bypass entirely.

Eddie Gripper Flute and Tankard, Cardiff Wed

Going places fast. Hello Cardiff. Jazz haven the F&T hosts piano Eddie this week.

Volodymyr Vasylenko The Nutshell, Winchester Thurs

The Ukrainian knows how to interpret Astor Piazzolla so poignantly.
