Clearly looking at the stats the most popular story recently is Sunday's Tigran review with nearly 3 times more traffic than any of the other stories of the top 5 in the list below

Run on 1 September.

  • A maximalist uncompromising vision. But it’s what you expect from the extraordinary Armenian pianist Tigran Hamasyan in what may be his magnum opus. He’s not in the business of leaving you short changed.

Run on 28 August.

  • The balladic title track 'Alternate Summer' is an instant classic. What a writer Harrell is too on this latest work that he and his wife Angela produced together. The title track is an instant classic, tender as the night. These 10 tunes, Harrell numbers all, includes the mega number 'Wind' which clocks in at over 12 minutes. The tune has a pulsing bass underpinning to it from Ugonna Okegwo and deftly insistent horns take the idea on. There's positivity, grace and so much more to the album and the whole thing grooves and shimmers.

Run on 29 Aug.

  • Nala Sinephro easily owns the mood and how it is to be shaped. A feeling of a complete communion of time and silence in the unquantifiable vastness of the universe is pieced together. Like its predecessor Endlessness is very much an ambient listen, characterised by long, expansive musical statements. It sits well with the approach taken by Floating Points and Pharaoh Sanders on 2021's Promises, in a blend of jazz and electronic elements formed by subtle, spacious production and delivered with great touch and sensitivity. The full album is out on Friday.

Run on 24 Aug.

  • The passing of the jazz icon Russell Malone last month shook the global jazz community. A guitarist of immense versatility, sensitivity, and swing over a career spanning more than four decades, Malone distinguished himself as a player deeply rooted in tradition, yet ever forward-looking in his approach. His journey from a self-taught prodigy to a celebrated jazz figure is a testament to his relentless pursuit of musical excellence, as well as his profound respect for the jazz lineage that informed his sound.

Run on 30 Aug.

  • Ambient sounds and immersive soundscapery from American composer & remarkable synth polymath Ellen Reid. Big Majestic guests include Shabaka Hutchings. Reid is influenced by Brian Eno and clearly fans of the ambient auteur will get a good deal out of this evocation of city spaces such as New York’s Central Park, Los Angeles’ Griffith Park, London’s Regent’s Park & Primrose Hill and Tokyo’s Ueno Park.
