Singer Noel McCalla of Morrissey-Mullen and Manfred Mann Earth Band renown and saxophonist Derek Nash – best known for his work with Jools Holland and Sax Appeal – have embarked on a Stevie Wonder six piece tribute tour of England and Wales to run throughout 2026.

Called The Wonder of Stevie, material covered ranges from the Motown years through the classic 1970s albums and later hits.

The emphasis is on faithful but freshly energised readings.

Joining McCalla and Nash on the road are the rhythm section of guitarist Tim Cansfield, bass guitarist Jonathan Noyce, keyboardist Neil Angilley – whose own trio albums include Live at the 606 – and drummer Nic France.

Fab footage many years ago – in the TV footage above – of McCalla with Morrissey/Mullen from a Waterman’s, Brentford, West London, gig featuring the much admired Pete Jacobsen on keys introduced by former Observer jazz critic, Dave Gelly.

Nash, France, and Cansfield were on McCalla’s 2025 super soulful Count All Your Blessings recorded at Nash’s own Clowns Pocket studio in Bexley where Jamie Cullum’s back in 2002 early period gem Pointless Nostalgic was also laid down.

The tour began earlier this month and runs through the year.
