One Jazz will mark the centenary of Miles Davis with a 48-hour programming takeover across 23–24 May 2026, bringing together more than 30 presenters from its global network.
Titled Miles Runs The Weekend Down, the event forms part of a wider year-long tribute to the trumpeter, who was born in May 1926. The station has been airing a daily one-hour show, Miles and Miles, at 6pm since January.
Across the weekend, One Jazz will broadcast a continuous schedule of themed programmes exploring Davis’s catalogue and legacy, with each host approaching the material through the lens of their own specialist show.
Programming strands range from Latin reinterpretations and free jazz explorations to examinations of Davis’s influence on ECM artists and his relationship with Japanese jazz culture. Additional content includes archive interviews with former sidemen, features on overlooked recordings and retrospectives on his impact on the UK jazz scene in the 1970s.
Highlighted shows include Break a Vase with Alexander Hawkins, revisiting Davis’s Blindfold Tests; Miles Gets Organised with Greg Boraman, focusing on Hammond-led interpretations; and FUSE with Debra Richards, examining Davis’s work in film.
Jez Nelson, co-founder of One Jazz, said the initiative reflects the scale of Davis’s influence and the station’s remit as a global jazz platform, describing the weekend as an opportunity to dedicate its full schedule to a single artist.
Miles Runs The Weekend Down will be available via onejazz.net and smart devices from midnight on 22 May through to 24 May, with all programmes accessible on demand via the platform’s listen-again service.
One Jazz operates as a not-for-profit, 24/7 online station featuring curated programming from an international roster of presenters spanning multiple jazz disciplines.
