10 vocals-jazz and beyond tracks to catch up on featuring artists covered on marlbank regularly. Some new, some kind of blue icons of the music nationally or internationally and definitely on the resurgent and even coming in from pop. Plus even one surely about to break through. And that 1 is Berts and Scott's scenes singer Katharine Timoney top who makes a move beyond the ''Emerald City'' stylistically moving on up from her Caro-esque base at last with the saunteringly woody, very woozily, arranged and lyrically strong original 'It Won't Always Be This Way' - key word, who knew? ''Stingrays''. KT is back at Ballyhack spot Scott's on 9 August. Katharine says: ''had a ball making this one with Ben Castle who produced it (he's based in Dublin, super musician and person in general) and he played sax on it too! Darren Beckett (also Irish!) features on drums alongside Arnie Somogyi on bass and Mark Edwards on piano. All incredible musicians in their own right and were a joy to work with. We recorded it at Echo Zoo Studios in Eastbourne with engineer Dave Lynch and it's the first of many I plan to release over the next few months.''

Approaching a year-and-a-half on from his death Blue Note are to release Celebration, Volume 1 a live quartet album featuring Wayne Shorter with pianist Danilo Pérez, bassist John Patitucci and drummer Brian Blade recorded in 2014 at the Stockholm Jazz Festival in Sweden.

'Edge of the World (End Title),' from the album is streaming - it's a version of WarGames film composer Arthur B. Rubinstein's movie theme.

Also this summer the label are to reissue on special edition vinyl Wayne's Odyssey of Iska (1970), JuJu (1964) and Speak No Evil (1964). The Celebration Vol 1 tracks include 'Zero Gravity' pieces, a version of Arthur A. Penn's 'Smilin’ Through', a song that goes back over 100 years and one that Wayne also interpreted on his 2005 album, Beyond the Sound Barrier.
