Traditional jazz joy here in 14 selections drawn from themed concerts hosted by Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Hall in New York in September 2006. There's such nimble, pristine playing and a whole lot of sheer passion throughout this labour of love that shines a light again on such seminal early jazz. Wynton is with Wycliffe Gordon, Vincent Gardner, Victor Goines, Walter Blanding, “Papa” Don Vappie, Jonathan Baptiste, Carlos Henriquez and Ali Jackson. Highlights include Victor Goines' clarinet runs on Spencer Williams' 'Fireworks' and elsewhere. But this is quintessential Wynton paying tribute to another proud son of New Orleans in his own inimitable manner warmly received by the Lincoln Center faithful.

Saturday morning listen:

Something you don't hear every day - a live solo piano take on David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars tune 'Soul Love' which is new from pianist Ivo Neame drawn from his September release Live at Turner Sims. Ivo says in his Bandcamp notes ''I really love the riff.''

Known for his work with Phronesis and Norwegian saxophonist Marius Neset, Ivo originally from Kent, as a leader is a popular presence on the UK club and festival circuit. And this new recording, his first solo piano album, unveils a new deeply personal aspect of his musical personality. Album tracks also include a version of Bill Frisell's 'Strange Meeting' and 'Rag' plus a solo treatment of Ivo's own 'Phasing Song' - a piece that appeared on Ivo's fine 2021 album, Glimpses of Truth.
