welcome | what's the
tori, morning glory?
- word on a song that I really warmed to this year that isn't jazz but really resonated with me nevertheless. Awks then on the purism front when I next decide to pride myself on being a jazz snob.

cheers, Stephen Graham

The track of the year so far isn't by one, the rather remarkable and enduringly influential, Myra Ellen Amos.
Sigh - we love jazz really. But if marlbank wasn't a jazz site then this number would be numero uno &, naturally a time for trebles all round and an outbreak of huzzahs down the Four Candles (a pub name at least that never mind that it's an Oxford branch of Wetherspoons is surely made for being near Ronnie's - geddit). 'Stronger Together' was on the springtime release the not at all fire breathing - or indeed Welsh - In Times of Dragons.
The drummer on that track who contributes great feel incidentally is Matt Chamberlain who was on Brad Mehldau albums Largo, Highway Rider and last year's brilliantly black Smithery forged on Ride into the Sun. Chamberlain is no stranger to working with the enduringly elfin Amos and is on past albums From the Choirgirl Hotel in the 1990s and far more recently Ocean to Ocean.
