The Vortex names next Whirlpool series jazzers

The still relatively new scheme consists of a monthly series of gigs during which each of the curators performs original music and collaborates with musician peers and contemporaries from comparable institutions.

The musicians were chosen in partnership with the heads of the jazz courses at three of London’s main music colleges: Guildhall; Royal Academy of Music; Trinity Laban.

The series has several functions. Encouraging musicians to curate an evening of new music and making contacts further afield,” says Vortex director Oliver Weindling.

Curators selected are: 

Jonah Phillips of the band Beyond the Blue (drums); Lior Solomons-Wise (piano); Ananda Brandão (drums); Dom Howard (guitar); Oli Fitzgerald (bass); Barney Anderson (guitar); Olivia Hughes (trombone).
