Tomorrow’s Warriors has unveiled a new partnership with Bank of America to create a year-long development programme for members of its big band.
Announced during the organisation’s 35th anniversary year, the initiative connects young musicians from the Tomorrow’s Warriors Big Band with players from the Nu Civilisation Orchestra, the professional ensemble founded by Tomorrow’s Warriors artistic director Gary Crosby.
The programme will include mentoring, rehearsal shadowing and workshops covering sight-reading, composition and arranging. Participants will work alongside professional musicians and, in some cases, step into rehearsal, session and concert settings as deputies.
The Tomorrow’s Warriors Big Band comprises 17 musicians selected from the organisation’s free Young Artist Development Programme, based at the Southbank Centre. The ensemble has long served as a bridge between education and the professional sector, with former members progressing into leading roles across the UK jazz scene.
Recent alumni include saxophonist Donovan Haffner, winner of the 2026 Jazz FM Breakthrough Act award. “We believe,” says Fernando Vicario, UK Country Executive at Bank of America, “talent should never be limited by background. Tomorrow’s Warriors is changing lives through music, and we look forward to seeing these talented young people excel.”
Upcoming appearances by the big band include dates at Foyles, Kings Cross Summer Sounds, We Out Here Festival, the Jazz Café and Pizza Express Live.
